Codepedent Frequencies, 2019, 8 channel sound work, mapped (different sounds placed on different speakers) over 5 flights of stairs, in an acoustically wet stairwell at Somerset House, London. A MAX Msp patch (computer coded sound synthesis) played sine waves that were close in frequencies (i.e. 220 hz played near 221 hz) to produce beating; a natural rhythmic phenomena when sine waves have close frequencies. Mixed with samples from Purple Rain that were transposed to fall into very low frequencies as the sound travelled though the speakers down the stair well. The upper floors contained only high frequencies and in the subbasement the frequencies dropped, only audible through the subwoofer.
